Texas Woman Rebuttal: 18 Real Things Donald Trump Has Actually Said About Women

My Rebuttal to the Article: 18 Real Things Donald Trump Has Actually Said About Women
(Huffington Post)

I expected to find something that offended my sensibilities, after all, I am a 52 yr old woman, a college graduate, married, mother of  two children, grandmother of six. Reporters keep insisting women won't vote for Trump, saying he is sexist, he is a misogynist, I keep hearing over and over that I should be offended but I'm not and I'm not a woman who accepts any type of criticism lightly. However, I do know that when we place ourselves and our opinions into the public's view, we must be prepared for negative responses and hope for positive ones. So, I read the Huffington Post.
I expected to find at least one comment that I felt was sexist. I didn't, but maybe it's because neither my femininity or gender felt threatened or offended, or maybe it's because I've got a tougher shell, than those who are offended? Maybe it's because I've always believed Eleanor Roosevelt's words, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." I try to live by those words and its not always easy. These are my opinions concerning the "18 Real Things Trump Has Said About Women." I'm not asking you to agree.
1. Negotiable Assets. I find it strange that a woman who believes in equal rights would consider this an insult. I think the only women this would offend are those that are in the marriage for the assets rather than love and companionship. Trump said this many years ago, and it's very clear that Ivana isn't suffering from a lack of negotiable assets.
2. "Beauty is not just something to SEE" What part of that statement is offensive? It's the truth. Beauty is not just the external 'building' it is also the internal parts of a building, a work of art or of a woman.
3. "Sexual assault" in the military is expected. Of course it is, because of the high testosterone that dominates men who fight wars. We need that in our soldiers but it doesn't come without a risk. I agree with him.
4. "Sex Appeal" is used in almost every thing, it's the truth. Some women can use it and do use it to get their foot in the door. Once in they can show their talents and prove to others that women are really super smart, as smart as men. This is the way Americans have chosen to judge, we all tend to follow social opinions and protocol concerning sex appeal.
5. This is true, too. This isn't opinion, it's our way of life and if you don't like it- change it. How can you be offended by truth and facts? This was an old comment, but it's still true today.
6. Truth. He is making an observation of how companies, news administrators etc. choose their employees. He isn't saying it's right. He isn't saying he doesn't do it. He simply states it is done and the truth is - reporters are often hired based on 'hotness.' It's what viewers want to see. Contact your local news to change it if it offends you.
7. My father would have said the same thing. It's actually the sign of a 'gentle'man. My father reacted the same way when I told him at 12 years of age that I needed a bra. His face got red and showed disgust and unbelief and he left the room screaming, "Go Talk To Your Mama!" I actually felt sorry for Trump when I read this.
8. 1997, a long time ago but it reveals Trump's experience and teaching that unfortunately is often true. Imagine how you might feel if you believed you would never know for sure if you are loved for just who you are rather than how much you are worth.
9. If anything Trump reveals his envy of the opposite sex in this one. He might be exaggerating our abilities here, but I'm convinced he is complimenting women in this statement.
10. I dislike "Hillary" so I wish I had said it first. I'm fairly certain Bill gets no attention unless he is talking politics. I still believe she was the President during his terms and he was the First Lady. This isn't critical of Hillary because Hillary probably sent Monica to her husband's office to take care of things she did not want to do.
11. His opinion. I think "Jolie" is a sexy, beautiful woman but that's my opinion. I'm not a lesbian but my words could be construed that way if someone wants to be offended. Funny, I think Jolie looks a lot like Trumps' current wife.
12. 2012, Trump's opinion. It is becoming more and more clear that Trump responds and judges by personality rather than physical appearance. I don't think any of Trumps wives were truly beautiful women. However I think his daughter Ivanka is gorgeous. I think Trump is commenting on his opinion of their behavior and words that offend him, not their looks.
13. "Rosie" is crude and rude and can be a very bitter, angry woman. Her ugly is in her words and ways. I agree with him even though I loved Rosie in Stakeout. 😘
14. "Bitch be cool." We hear women call their friends that, we hear men refer to their women that way. It's a very common and oft used term. If the bitch was risking his life and talking when she should be listening then these words were appropriate for the scene. It's movie words, silly words. Not offended, yet.
15. "The Face of A Dog." Most Americans love dogs and their faces. If you don't think you are ugly, why are you offended? Trump is defining her words - not her appearance despite what was written. Read between the lines. He was not being literal but if he was - if you don't think you are ugly then you shouldn't be offended. If you do think you are ugly then you have to change the world's view and opinions concerning beauty, not just Trumps.
16. I've heard people say these words to loved ones, to get them to snap out of depression and fight. Cher is lonely and becoming more and more recluse. It's the truth.
17. "Power" is attractive, it's the damn truth. I'm sure he is fawned over and I'm sure his power is quite intoxicating. Just the truth, why be offended? This one is silly.
18. Of course those women were flirting with him. Trump is charming. He loves most women and God knows I'd hate to be one he didn't like because I don't believe Trump judges women just by physical appearance. I think Trump judges intelligence, attitude, kindness and their spirit more than he judges their looks. All of these so called criticisms are ridiculous efforts to malign Trump. He loves most women, not just his wife, daughters and granddaughters. I have no fear that Trump will demean women or deny their equality or rights. In Trump, I see my father who was only born two years earlier than Trump. I hear the same beliefs and I see the same strength and power in both of them despite my father being a simple carpenter. There is a special knowledge that builders seem to have that should not be ignored. Trump is still "MyPresident" despite his sometimes offensive words that offend people. It's amazing to me that Trump can be as kind and controlled as he is when I consider the massive attack being executed upon him and his campaign.
Think about Eleanor Roosevelt's words the next time you feel offended or inferior. You can't have it both ways, if you desire equality between the sexes. If a woman said these things, it would not get this much media attention but when a man says these things, it's considered wrong because a man said it, or maybe it's just because Trump said it.
For all those who keep insisting no woman will vote for Trump, I did. I am a woman, a Texas woman who does not believe Donald Trump is sexist.
